Slow Cooker Ribs with Homemade BBQ Sauce

Tonight I made slow cooker beef short ribs. I've made them in the past with store-bought sauce but I wanted to do something healthier, and yummier. I think I succeeded. Next step is to replace the ketchup and worchester with homemade varieties.

The basis for the recipe came from here:

My altered recipe was:
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 lbs beef short ribs
4 tbs butter
1 C chopped onion
6 cloves chopped garlic
1 C water
1/2 C old red wine/red wine vinegar
1/3 C apple cider vinegar
2 T raw honey
2 T hot sauce
2 T ketchup
2 T worcestershire
1 tsp chili powder

salt and pepper ribs, brown in butter, place browned ribs in crockpot.
add old red wine to hot pan then garlic and onion and briefly cook.
add remaining ingredients, bring to boil, pour over ribs in crockpot.
cook on high 1 hr, cook on low 4 hours.
remove bones, pull meat and return to sauce.
enjoy.

I was feeling in need of some carbs so I served this with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli.
